My car has sounded like it's struggling to wake up every time I turn the key. It says "nooooo...oooookkkkayyyy." Today, I had to run 3 errands. My husband is at an offsite meeting about an hour and fifteen minutes away from home (assuming no traffic in Houston). And that, my friends, is a big fat joke.
Anyway, I decided in between two errands to stop at the car repair place to have a diagnostic run and see what it would cost to fix it. $870. I had to pick my jaw up off the floor. My heart sank instantly because I already have a $1500 repair I need on the same car already. How on earth would we be able to do this *right now* with my mom's birthday, my youngest son's birthday, Christmas, and everything in between?
As I drove away, I heard that still, small voice "I will supply this need." The funny thing is that I woke up this morning singing this old song we sang in church 30 years ago.
"Jehovah Jireh, my provider, His grace is sufficient for me. My God shall supply all my needs, according to His riches in glory. He will give His angels charge over me, Jehovah Jireh cares for me."
I love how God works. He was preparing my heart to trust Him to provide even before I knew there was a need. The scriptures of His provision and His ability to do the impossible started welling up inside of me.
Philippians 4:19 "And my God will supply every need of your according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus."
Psalm 23:1 "The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing."
Luke 1:37 "For nothing will be impossible with God."
So, I sat in my car for a few minutes, preaching to myself. Reminding myself that God's promises are yes, His word does not return to Him void, and He is way bigger than an alternator! He is able to do exceeding, abundantly above all that I could ask or think. He is our provider! Now, I'm pumped up and believing that He is who He says He is, and He CAN DO what He says He can do!
What are the big things in your life? How can I pray for God's provision for you? It's not always financial, sometimes it's emotional, physical, or relational. Let me know how I can pray for you below.
