Turn on the news today, and fear can quickly creep in. Disease, war, fraud, trials, property values, economy, the list could go on and on. Add in personal turmoil, distress or angst, and you've got a combination for great stress and fear. All of these things can weigh heavy, keeping us up at night.
But here is where we can find rest in His promises:
In the midst of everything going on in our crazy world, He promises to be our peace. We can find rest in Him, even when it seems we need to be on high alert with worry. Isaiah 26:3-4 "You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock."
Seasons change, circumstances change, even we change, but God does not change. He is an everlasting rock. We have this promise that we can put our trust in Him, we can keep our minds on Jesus and He will give us perfect peace. This doesn't just say He will give us peace, but that He will give us perfect peace.
Perfect means "being entirely without fault or defect; lacking in no essential detail." One definition of peace is "a state of tranquility or quiet." Peace isn't always just the absence of conflict, but it is always the presence of God in our lives. Peace doesn't come just by turning off the news and burying our head in the sand. It comes when we spend time with God, getting quiet with Him, and letting Him cover us with His love.
Let me encourage you today to seek Him. When we seek Him, we will find Him and we won't be disappointed. He desires to fill us with His peace, we just need to allow ourselves to trust Him fully.
How can I pray for you today?

DeleteI needed this today. I've been having a rough week, my husband's been out of town for almost 7 weeks now and. . .it's getting to me, to put it nicely. Prayers for peace in his absence would be much appreciated. Thank you for the beautiful reminder that I find my peace in Jesus, not my husband. =)
ReplyDeleteSarah, that's rough, girl! I can't imagine being away from my husband for that long. Praying that the peace that passes understanding will guard your heart and your mind while your husband is away, and continually. Believing God to not just give you peace but joy in the journey. In Jesus Name, Amen!
